Making Your Golf Swing Great
Posted at Apr 30th, 2009 in Golf Books
It is possible that you aren’t looking in the right place for answers. Maybe it isn’t your technique that is the problem. Stay with me hereif changing your technique isn’t helping, maybe it’s time to look to some other aspect of your game to work on.
Let me pose a few specific questions:
1) What is your pre-shot routine? 2) How do you let go of ego? 3) How do you find balance in your swing?
You may have never been asked these questions before, but entertain them. It’s a fact that all professional golfers have some pre-shot routine that helps them center themselves before they swing. Coaches help them to find pre-shot routines that help them find peace of mind before they swing. This helps tremendously with centering yourself before taking a swing.
Another big hindrance is your ego. If you’re more worried about playing like a professional, that can be a block. Putting pressure on yourself to “perform” can bring your game down. Remember how you feel when you’re just practicing? Try to get into that mindset. That may be the key for you to improve. Calm down and be in a state of peace.
Is your shot balanced? Meaning when you’re swinging, you should be able to pick up your right foot off the ground and not have a problem with balance (assuming you’re a righty). If you lose your balance when you pick up your right foot, then you’re not balanced correctly on your swing. Your weight should be on the left food. If this isn’t the case, slow down. You need to find balance in your swing.
