The Place To Be If You Are A Golfer

« Why It Is a Good Idea to Use Golf Cart Covers   The One Plane vs. Two Plane Golf Swing - So, What are the Differences? »

Serious golfers follow the rules of golf, and the rules regarding etiquette are especially followed closely. Golfers take a pretty large percentage of their shots on or around the green, so the result of those shots can be the difference between a good golfer and an average golfer. If the quality of the green is poor due to golfers not repairing their ball marks, the result will be putts going off line and the golfer’s score going up.

Every golfer on every golf course should be required to carry a golf divot tool. Starters at golf courses should check every golfer and make sure they have a golf divot tool before they start their round of golf. If a golfer does not have one, they should not be allowed to play their round until they get one. In an expensive sport, divot tools are one of the least expensive items required so there is no reason for any golfer not to have one.

If every golfer took the time to repair at least one ball mark on each green, the game of golf would become much more enjoyable for everyone. A simple divot tool costs just a couple of dollars, and if every golfer took the steps to buy one and actually use it, more putts would roll where they were hit instead of going offline. the result of that would be more made putts and less strokes on the score card.

Take it one step further. Repair your ball mark. Then repair one more. Do this on every green. When you see a golfer who does not repair his ball mark, don’t let it pass. Remind him of his duty to his fellow golfers. Make him feel a little bad about what he did not do. I bet the next time he repairs that ball mark, and maybe even one more. And you will have made our game just a little bit more enjoyable.

All golfers should think about not only having a divot tool in their bag, but give them as gifts. Buy a batch of affordable plastic divot tools and just give them to other golfers or leave them around the course and clubhouse for other golfers to find and use. Let’s all work for smoother greens. The game of golf will reap the benefits, and those of us who play it will feel great about that.
